The Pentagon is moving fast to embed generative AI into its core military operations, awarding Ask Sage $10 million to expand the use of large language models (LLMs) across all Combatant Commands, the Joint Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
The deal aims to supercharge battlefield decision-making and streamline workflows in key areas such as operational planning, logistics, command and control, intelligence, cybersecurity, and weapons development.
At the heart is the US Army’s LLM workspace, which will scale Ask Sage’s AI-powered tools to operate seamlessly across both classified and unclassified environments. The goal is faster, smarter mission planning and improved readiness.
“This partnership represents major momentum in accelerating Generative AI adoption across the Department of Defense, including at the edge,” said Nicolas Chaillan, CEO of Ask Sage.
He added that over 15,000 government teams across 27 agencies already use Ask Sage’s technology, increasing operational speed by up to 35 times.
Driving AI Integration Across Defense
Ask Sage’s tools have helped automate a variety of US Army tasks, including reclassifying 300,000 personnel records in a single week and conducting automated cybersecurity testing.
The platform has also streamlined Authority to Operate processes for Combatant Commands, cutting time and costs in producing required security documentation and controls.
This contract is part of the Department of Defense’s broader strategy, led by its Chief Digital and AI Office, to weave advanced AI into defense data workflows by collaborating closely with mission teams and industry partners.
