The US Department of Defense is partnering with Texas-based startup AvaWatz to deliver AI platforms that will enhance its digitization, readiness, and decision-making processes.

The project, valued at $249 million, will see the firm integrate its proprietary solutions in support of the Pentagon’s cybersecurity, machine algorithm modeling, applied data science, autonomous systems, and DevSecOps.

AvaAI and AXIA

At the core of the deal are AvaWatz’s two flagship tools: AvaAI and AXIA.

AvaAI makes building AI faster and easier by handling tasks like labeling data, speeding up training, and keeping systems running smoothly. It helps teams launch AI tools in days instead of months.

Meanwhile, AXIA adds a layer of intelligence on top. It allows defense and enterprise systems to safely integrate AI for tasks like real-time alerts, pattern detection, and data-driven decision support.

Expanding AI Company Partnerships

Washington’s award to AvaWatz comes through the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) AI Talent 2.0 Basic Ordering Agreement, a contracting vehicle designed to quickly tap AI and machine learning expertise for both tactical and strategic missions.

The agreement cuts contract-to-execution timelines to just 30 to 60 days, with no contract access fees, ensuring steady delivery of critical AI tools.

“We’re honored to be selected by CDAO under the AI Talent 2.0 vehicle,” said Dr. Rajini Anachi, founder and CEO of AvaWatz.

“This award underscores our mission to empower national security, enterprise, and government operations with faster, more adaptable, and trustworthy AI technologies, enabling smarter, faster decision-making at every level of the mission.”

Earlier this month, a similar CDAO contract valued at $200 million was awarded each to Silicon Valley giants Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, and xAI.
