Leidos and VML have announced “Imperium,” an AI-powered platform designed to support US information operations.

The system provides tools for planning, executing, analyzing, and assessing information, with built-in compliance and ethical safeguards.

The partnership combines Leidos’ defense technology expertise with VML’s background in digital strategy and audience engagement, merging technical and communication capabilities for modern information missions.

Developed over three years, Imperium is intended to enhance the agility and speed of US combatant commands across the digital battlespace.

According to Leidos, early testing showed it can significantly reduce planning timelines, turning workflows that once took days into just a few hours.

At the core of the system is Leidos’ Trusted Mission AI, which enables faster, broader data analysis while providing transparency and explainability for mission-critical intelligence.

“Developing timely, strategic information operations capabilities is a critical component in keeping the US and our allies safe,” said Jason McCarthy, Leidos senior VP for national security.

“Powered by our collaboration with VML, Imperium is designed to deliver faster, more agile information operations capabilities.”

Developing Emerging Technologies

Over the past year, Leidos has rolled out a range of autonomous and digital systems aimed at improving situational awareness and operational flexibility.

Last month, the company began production of the Sea Archer, a compact uncrewed surface vessel developed to advance US maritime autonomy in the Indo-Pacific.

The platform integrates AI-driven navigation and awareness systems for independent operations at sea.

In cyberspace, Leidos began a project with NATO to develop a private cloud system intended to strengthen the alliance’s cybersecurity and digital infrastructure.
