Canadian AI company Caseway has partnered with Taipei-based MiTAC Advance Technology to develop AI-driven decision intelligence technologies for Taiwan and allied defense markets.

The collaboration will initially focus on proof-of-concept solutions for Taiwan and allied markets, targeting counter-drone operations, maritime surveillance, and multi-sensor defense missions.

The goal is to help military operators process battlefield information more efficiently and respond faster to evolving threats.

“Taiwan sits at the center of the most consequential security environment in the world, and the companies defending it are among the best hardware builders anywhere,” said Alex Hu, chief business officer at Caseway.

“MiTAC’s engineering depth in edge computing and UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) systems, combined with Synthium’s explainable decision layer, creates something neither company could deliver alone: complete sensor-to-decision capability that operators can actually trust.”

Turning Sensor Data Into Decisions

Under the partnership, MiTAC will contribute its edge computing and UAV expertise, while Caseway will provide its Synthium platform, which fuses data from multiple sensors into a single operating picture with explainable recommendations while keeping humans in control of critical decisions.

The companies said the technology is intended to reduce the time between threat detection and response by helping operators process data from multiple sensor feeds more efficiently.

Caseway founder and chief executive Al Vigier said allied governments are increasingly shifting away from opaque “black-box” AI in favor of sovereign, human-controlled systems that provide greater transparency in decision-making.

“Allied nations are waking up to the same realization at the same time: you cannot defend democracies with black-box AI or with technology supply chains you do not control,” Vigier said.

“Partnering with MiTAC connects trusted Canadian decision intelligence with Taiwan’s world-class hardware ecosystem, and it extends both companies’ reach across Canada and allied markets where explainable, human-controlled AI is rapidly becoming a procurement requirement, not a preference.”
