Virginia-based startup Rune Technologies has received $24 million in funding to accelerate the deployment of its AI-powered software for military logistics.

The investment reflects growing demand for the company’s proprietary AI platform, the “TyrOS,” which “replaces whiteboards and spreadsheets” used to monitor, forecast, and coordinate logistics.

Rune said that the TyrOS embeds data where decisions are made, eliminating the need to send data to distant servers for processing.

The software lets defense users bypass constant connectivity requirements, enabling systems to operate independently and sync once communications are restored in contested or disconnected environments.

Already deployed with the US Army and Marine Corps, TyrOS is now set to scale further and expand into additional military programs thanks to the new funding.

‘Huge Impact’

Rune’s recent capital follows the organization’s seed round in February, bringing its total funds raised to more than $30 million.

The latest investment was led by Human Capital, with collaborations from Pax VC, Washington Harbour Partners, and existing backers Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, XYZ Venture Capital, and Forward Deployed VC.

The company was also selected for the Palantir Startup Fellowship and earlier this year announced an integration with Palantir’s Defense Ontology Software Development Kit, a similar tool built to provide strategic-level planning between military logisticians and commanders.

“It’s urgent that the Department of Defense keeps modernizing its core systems and software with the best technology available – and that’s Rune, automating granular work so logisticians can focus on strategic decisions,” said Ross Fubini, managing partner at XYZ Venture Capital.

“We’ve invested in Rune twice in just a few months because it’s clear they’re making huge impact across multiple operational military units, and that this type of transformation is crucial right now.”
