Northrop Grumman is exploring artificial intelligence to enhance battlefield command and fire control through a new collaboration with AI software company Camgian.
The partnership will examine the integration of Camgian’s Reactor AI platform into Northrop’s Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) and AiON counter-uncrewed aerial system.
IBCS is the US Army’s command-and-control backbone for integrated air and missile defense, linking sensors and weapons across multiple services to create a unified battlespace picture.
AiON is Northrop’s counter-drone mission management system, featuring an open architecture that integrates various sensors and effectors.
Optimizing Command Decisions
Under the collaboration, Northrop will explore how Reactor AI can enhance automation and decision support across the two command-and-control platforms.

The effort will focus on capabilities such as sensor data fusion, automated threat assessment, course-of-action recommendations, and weapon-to-target assignment optimization to help operators make faster decisions while reducing cognitive workload.
