Ukraine is increasingly leaning on artificial intelligence to automate frontline air defense, deploying AI-assisted turrets that can neutralize incoming enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with a single button press.
The system is designed to counter fast-moving drones, including fiber-optic-controlled UAVs that are resistant to electronic warfare, by calculating their trajectory before interception.
Unlike electronic warfare systems, the turret relies on kinetic interception to engage maneuverable aerial targets that cannot be disrupted through jamming.

Developed by a participant in Brave1, the compact weapon has already been deployed by more than 10 Ukrainian military units, including the K-2 Brigade.
Part of Lower-Tier Air Defense
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence released footage showing the turret conducting automated drone interceptions in combat conditions.
“For the first time on video — real combat operation of a turret against enemy drones,” said Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
“The collaboration with Brave1 and the military helped shorten the path from drawings to the front in the shortest possible time.”
The turret forms part of the country’s expanding lower-tier or “small air defense” network, designed to protect frontline forces and settlements from drone threats, including first-person-view drones and other low-cost UAVs.
It also comes as Ukraine expands AI integration across defense systems through initiatives including the Brave1 Dataroom and the “Syaivo” national AI model.
