The US Army’s latest artificial intelligence (AI) data and analytics competition has come to a close, pushing teams to go beyond concepts and assemble deployable solutions that solve actual field problems.

Taking first place in the high-stakes Vantage Edge 2 challenge is the Team CC Blue Ghost from the Texas-based Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), outperforming 42 groups.

Its winning solution focuses on aviation depot maintenance, built as a dashboard that consolidates supplies, costs, labor, and execution data into a single live view.

“Their efforts have produced a tremendous return on time and transformed operations,” said Mike Bonincontri, director of production management at CCAD.

Judges said the system set a new benchmark for AI workflows on the platform, leading across every evaluation category.

“Innovation starts with initiative, and this team had the drive to step outside the box and create something new,” CCAD Chief of Staff Zachary Anderson stated. “I’m excited to see where this incredible momentum takes us next.”

More than 300 participants from active-duty, National Guard, Reserve, and civilian ranks took part in the five-day event, making Vantage one of the service’s most competitive data and analytics showdowns to date.

About the Corpus Christi Army Depot

Established in 1961, CCAD is the US Army’s primary industrial hub for helicopter overhaul, repair, and upgrades, handling rotor systems, transmissions, and engine maintenance.

Its mission is to provide global logistics and engineering support to keep tactical aviation mission-ready.

Located within Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, it supports aircraft used across the joint force, including the UH-60 Black Hawk, AH-64 Apache, and CH-47 Chinook fleets.

The CCAD Vantage team draws its name from the USS Lexington (CV-16), an Essex-class carrier nicknamed “Blue Ghost” during World War II after Japanese forces repeatedly reported it sunk, only for it to return to service.

Following decommissioning, the ship was converted into a museum in Corpus Christi and designated as a National Historic Landmark.
