Ukraine-based startup NeoLens has expanded its AI assistant from armored vehicle repair to infantry weapon guidance for frontline use.

The platform was initially developed to assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of military vehicles, including the Humvee, MaxxPro, and M113 armored personnel carrier.

It was intended to provide troops with faster access to technical repair procedures and diagnostics drawn from official documentation.

But a recent update now gives users the ability to also retrieve operational instructions for specific weapons without having to navigate manuals that often run dozens of pages, Militarynyi reported.

These include systems such as the M249 and M240 machine guns, Javelin and NLAW anti-tank weapons, and Stinger air defense systems, all currently in service in Ukraine.

It also covers weapons such as the RGW-90, Instalaza C90, Armbrust, RPG-75, RPG-76, and Bulspike, broadening its scope across multiple infantry weapon types.

The AI assistant runs directly on soldier devices and supports text, voice, and image-based queries, converting technical documentation into step-by-step, on-demand guidance.

Similar Efforts and Future Plans

Similar approaches are being explored across other defense AI programs.

EdgeRunner AI has developed an offline AI assistant for mission planning and support tasks, while AI assistants built on frameworks linked to the Pentagon’s Project Maven are being used for intelligence analysis and data processing.

NeoLens has also indicated plans to introduce an AI medical assistant module, which is expected to provide structured first aid guidance and response protocols for use in critical situations.
