Leonardo DRS has debuted its latest hardware for the modern battlefield: the Rugged Smart Displays – Ground (RSD-G) for combat vehicles.
The RSD-G is a next-gen tactical computing system that uses AI to chew massive amounts of sensor data and provide a clear, real-time view of what’s happening outside the hatch.
It acts as an extra set of eyes for crews, with the embedded AI pulling feeds from cameras, radar, thermal imaging, and other vehicle sensors, then fusing them into a single battlefield picture.
The goal: reduce the time crews spend juggling separate feeds and help them react faster under pressure.
Powering the system is an Intel Core i7 extended temperature processor, ensuring reliable performance even in harsh battlefield environments.
‘A Decisive Advantage’
The RSD-G comes in four multi-function display sizes, with high-resolution screens and modular architecture for easy integration across platforms.
Instead of crews piecing the puzzle together on the fly, the rugged display delivers sharper situational awareness in the moments that matter.
“We are excited to launch this cutting-edge family of rugged smart displays designed to provide our military and allied forces with a decisive advantage in today’s complex battlespace,” said Denny Crumley, senior VP and general manager of Leonardo DRS’ Land Electronics unit.
The launch also ties into Leonardo’s broader mission of advancing C5I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence) systems, with a focus on sensor fusion, network integration, and easing the cognitive burden on combat crews.
