Saronic Technologies and NVIDIA have joined forces to push the boundaries of US maritime autonomy through AI and high-computing systems.

The partnership combines Saronic’s expertise in unmanned surface vessels with NVIDIA’s advanced computing hardware, AI platforms, and simulation tools.

Together, they aim to accelerate the development and deployment of fully autonomous ships that can operate with minimal human supervision in complex maritime environments.

Saronic will integrate NVIDIA’s accelerated computing tools directly into its vessels, enabling real-time onboard processing for navigation, object recognition, and decision-making.

This approach allows ships to process large streams of data locally rather than depending on remote operators, boosting reliability and performance in contested waters.

The partnership also leverages NVIDIA’s Omniverse simulation tech to test and validate autonomous behaviors before field deployment, significantly shortening development cycles.

“This collaboration reinforces our leadership in maritime innovation and enables us to move even faster to scale the delivery of next-generation autonomous vessels and ships to meet the strategic demands of the maritime domain,” stated Dino Mavrookas, Saronic Co-founder and CEO.

‘Physical AI’

NVIDIA’s work is centered on what it calls “physical AI,” a tool applied to machines that interact directly with the physical world.

The company provides the computing and simulation infrastructure that allows systems to learn, adapt, and make decisions in dynamic environments like the open sea.

Instead of relying on pre-programmed routines, these AI models learn how to move, detect obstacles, and react to changing conditions through simulation and real-world training.

Using its graphics processors and Omniverse software, NVIDIA creates virtual environments where autonomous systems can be refined long before deployment.
