Uzbekistan is expanding the digital capabilities of its armed forces as part of a broader push to place artificial intelligence and advanced technologies at the center of military modernization efforts.
The country has rolled out dozens of military information systems and linked multiple government agencies to a centralized online conscription platform, strengthening its digital defense infrastructure.
It has also formed specialized military units focused on drone and counter-drone operations, alongside training programs for drone operators, engineers, and robotics specialists.
Plans reviewed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also call for expanded cybersecurity infrastructure and updated military education programs aimed at preparing personnel for technology-driven warfare.

Officials said the reforms are intended to align the armed forces with emerging trends in modern conflict, including the growing use of unmanned systems, electronic warfare, and networked command operations.
Under the proposed changes, future officers and specialists will receive expanded instruction in artificial intelligence, information technology, foreign languages, and drone operations.
The Ministry of Defense has also established an Information Security Monitoring Center to detect and counter cyber threats.
Additional proposals include the creation of a Main Directorate for Digital Technologies, a Department for Artificial Intelligence Technologies, a Cybersecurity Laboratory, and a Satellite Communications Center to support secure military communications nationwide.
